The Best Hummus Recipe ~ Rocks In My Beans

I remember ever since I was young, my Mother telling me to always check the dried beans for rocks.  I had never seen a rock in my beans but being the good daughter, I always checked.

Lo an behold... I found rocks in my beans.

Hummus Recipe
1 Clove Garlic
1 Can Beans (drained)
4 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons Tahini
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
Cayenne Or Black Pepper as desired

I put everything into my food processor and make it into a dip like consistency.

I also never follow the recipe exactly and I usually add a lot more garlic.  I also pour more olive oil over the Hummus when I serve it.

I love this recipe, but adding more garlic can make everyone run from you so you may not want to add extra like I do.

  3. Yes, the rocks are there, in the beans. You have to be really careful or you may end up with a dentist bill too.

  5. I've tried hummus only once when we were in Dubai but I can't remember how the taste is like.

Sometimes there are rocks in rice too and I chipped a tooth once when I bit a rock!

  6. I have never heard of rocks in beans. Now I'm going to be extra careful to look lol. Humus is so good, but I've never made my own. I'll be sure to try your recipe though!

  7. I've found rocks in my beans before, too. As far the garlic, add all ya want. If everybody eats the dip, no problem. (Probably not a good idea to gobble it up all by yourself, though...) We love garlic... and onions... but my hubby and I made a deal years ago: either we both eat it, or neither of us does.

  8. My mother also taught me to watch for rocks in my beans. I guess the factory that packages beans have gotten better at cleaning and removing rocks from beans. I have found a few pebbles in my beans before.
I love hummus. I make it at least once a week. It makes a good sandwich spread.

  33. I can say that unfortunately I have found rocks in my beans. I actually bit a rock once that must have come from my dried beans and it was less pleasant than you might think. Your hummus recipe looks awesome. Thank you for sharing such a great looking recipe. I can't wait to try it.
