Perfect Baby Back Ribs In The Oven ~ Who Needs A Grill?

You can make tasty ribs in your oven

Normally when we do Ribs, it is on the grill.  Since I am not a grill master like my Hubs I wanted to do them in the oven.

My Hubs was on his way home from Atlantic City and I wanted to surprise him with ribs for our dinner.   Usually I can't eat ribs because people add sugar to their BBQ sauce.   These are made with NO SUGAR ADDED

First I made the Marinade
1 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
4 Cups Water
2 Tablespoons Sea Salt
2 Tablespoons Black Pepper
10 Smashed Cloves Garlic
1 Med Onion Peeled and Quartered.
1 Large Banana Pepper Large pieces

Soak the ribs (About 3 Pounds) in the brine for about 1/2 hour

Preheat the oven to 400*

Take the ribs out of the brine, season them on both sides with some salt and pepper, then sear them under the broiler.

Put the ribs into a large roasting pan that has a rack in the bottom.  Pour about 1/2 the beer over the ribs.  My Hubs drank the rest of the beer.

Add the onion and the garlic that was in the brine.

Cover the pan with aluminum foil and put into the 400* oven.  Reduce the heat as soon as the ribs are in to 300*.

Roast the ribs for 1 1/2 hours.   When the time is up baste the ribs with the NO SUGAR ADDED BBQ sauce  (recipe below)

Broil the ribs away from the heat a little for 7 minutes.  Turn them, baste the other side and broil another 7 minutes.

NO SUGAR ADDED BBQ Sauce
1/2 Cup onion
1 Tablespoon chopped hot pepper
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
1 Tablespoon minced ginger
In  1 Tablespoon Olive Oil, saute the onion, pepper, garlic and ginger.

Add
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Cups Raspberries
1/3 cup Simply fruit raspberry jam
3 Tablespoons molasses.
Cook for a couple more minutes.
You can put this in the blender to make it liquid, but my Hubs wanted the fruit left chunky.  It wasn't that chunky because the raspberries broke apart anyway.

I really liked that I now have a barbeque sauce with no sugar added that I can use.

  8. Thank you for this recipe! I am a horrible griller but I love ribs. Now I don't have to rely on my husband to be home (he's a Marine so he deploys a lot) in order to enjoy them. :-)
