I already have a couple different diets on my blog. There is the Candida Cleanse Diet and the Alkaline Diet.
I have used and like them both for different reasons. When Holly, an email friend who also suffers with digestive problems told me about the Paleo Diet, I decided to check it out. Actually, Holly will be doing a couple of guest posts at some point.
What is the Paleo Diet?
Sometimes known as the Paleolithic Diet, it is what the caveman would have and did eat. It is sometimes referred to as The Caveman Diet, The Stone Age Diet or the Hunter-Gatherer Diet.
It consists of foods that can be hunted, fished or gathered. If the caveman didn't eat it then you shouldn't eat it either. That is the thought of this diet.
I actually kind of eat like this... but I eat some grains and grains aren't allowed on the Paleo Diet.
Here is a basic break down of what you can and can't eat on the Paleo Diet. Be aware that there are different versions of this diet.
Okay To Eat
Fruits
Vegetables
Lean Meats ( grass fed)
Sea Foods
Nuts and Seeds
Tubers
Healthy Fats
Don't Eat These Foods
Dairy
Grains
Processed Foods
Sugar
Legumes
Starches
Alcohol
Anyway, I am going to try this. I may or may not stick to it depending on how things go.
I am going to try this diet and just see how I like it.

haha basically already on that diet, for three months now.
ReplyDeleteJust saw your post about trying the Paleo Diet - there are different versions of this.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of like asking someone what kind of underpants they wear. Everybody's version is different, and people can be un-supportive with other people's choices.
Good books to read up on this, if you haven't yet, Robb Wolf (website:http://robbwolf.com/ ) , Mark Sisson (website: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/).
Good luck with it. I do eat similar to paleo/primal, but I have certain foods I will not consume any more.
I eat this way because I feel better, and I am able to maintain a very large weight-loss.
Enjoy!
CindyK
I should say, I do not consider this a diet any more, it is just how I eat to feel the best I can.
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteI knew you ate kind of like I did, I didn't know it was the Paleo diet though.
Cindy,
Thanks and people can be very un supportive of the candida and alkaline diet also. It is like they think we should eat the junk they eat.
Anonymous,
That is exactly how I feel. I eat to live, not live to eat.
Good luck with it! I look forward to reading about it as you go (if you decide to blog about it).
ReplyDeleteThe Paleo diet is what I follow, and it's helped me tremendously. Yes, everyone does have their own version of it. Some people (like me) can tolerate dairy well, and some have to exclude all or some forms of dairy. Some people cannot tolerate nuts and have to cut those out.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is that since eliminating wheat and legumes and eating more healthy protein, I have eliminated a lot of the pain I used to have, and I have a lot more energy to keep up with my 2-year-old son.
I hope it works well for you, too! It takes discipline. Just last night, I was tempted to eat a wheat bun and croutons that came with my salad at Panera Bread. I didn't eat them though, and I so was proud of myself! I still "cheat" just like most people do every now and then (whether they admit it or not). ;)
Rosey,
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Not sure if I will blog about it a lot because it isn't much different than I already eat.
Jeanine,
I think every diet has its own version and everyones elses version too. We just have to eat what we know won't bother us. Thanks for stopping by.
Terry,
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that next time I see you, you'll be wearing a one-shoulder animal print minni dress, barefoot, with a hair updo held together by a huge bone? Oh, I'll love it and can hardly wait.
I like the way you put the women ahead today at Pat's. High five. See ya later.
I don;t think I could do it!
ReplyDeleteI have heard great things about this diet, but I haven't given it a shot.... can't wait to hear how it goes!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could do this one, as Sandie said. I have a very hard time giving up diary, legumes and some starches especially. I'll be interested to see how you like it.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading about it. Many people swear it helps them. Personally I like eating a serving or more of carbs a day, usually rice.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing about this diet, but I don't usually eat based on those fad type diets. I eat what I like ;)
ReplyDeleteManzi,
ReplyDeleteI don't know about bare footen it but the animal print isn't out of the question. LOL... maybe we can buy matching outfits.
Sandie,
If you are healthy then there is no need for you to eat like this.
Alexis Grace,
I already eat almost like this so it won't be a big stretch for me to give up all grains.
Cheryl,
There are different variations of this diet and some eat legumes. If you have no problems... why change your diet.
Linda,
The girl that told me about this, swears by it. It won't hurt me to try it.
Robin,
You are YOUNG!! If I were you, I would eat what I like and want too.
This is suuuuuuper popular lately, and there are some great recipes out there if you look. I couldn't do it. I love my carbs too much!
ReplyDeleteLiz,
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be working along with some herbs I am taking.
If you don't have to do it then don't even think about it. I do it because I have to.
Good luck with this diet ..... OR a new way of eating. It's hard and I have thought of doing it, but way too hard to stay with it....but I bet it helps clean you out!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining in on my very first blog hop at Tuesday’s Thoughtful Comments. I hope you enjoy your stay and that you’ll come back next week to link up your awesome blog post. Have A Happy Day, Kim at Mommie…Again

It is ironic...the changes I'm making in the way I'm eating are quite similar to the Paleo diet, although not exactly the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm following this blog as well now. =)
That sounds like a diet that my dad is on.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard much about this diet...let us know how it goes
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very healthy diet, but I am not disciplined enough to give up bread. That is my one weakness in life lol.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your diet! I hope you come back and let us know how well it is working for you!
I do one kind of like it but no fruits or veggies. Can't wait to hear how it goes :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best trying this diet. It should not be too hard for you. You already eat healthy. My grandson and his parents eat paleo so I have been learning to bake paleo. I want my grandson to be able to have a few simple snacks that are approved when he visits.
