Making My Own Flowers For Packages ~ I Use These Instead Of Bows

I used to craft quite often, but when you really don't feel good, crafting is the last thing you want to do.      Now that I am feeling well, I am getting itchy to start crafting again.

I do blame a lot of my wanting to craft again on Theresa, at Theresa's Mixed Nuts.  She is always making something cool.

I had all this material that is like ribbon and is on spools like you see above.   I probably have 4 or 5 different colors of it.    I had no idea what I was going to do with it.

I remembered I used to make flowers out of material.... so that is what I decided to do.

. I cut a piece of the ribbon 20 inches in length
. Fold in half length wise
. With a needle and thread, gather the top
. I pull the thread until it forms a flower like you see above
. Sew it together so it doesn't fall apart
. I went out and bought pom poms for the center

Walla!!!  Here are the flowers I made for my gifts for our Family Cook Off that I will tell you about later.
The flowers didn't turn out quite as cute as I thought they would...... but they are going to have to do.

Here are all the presents ready for our Family Cook Off on Sunday!!    I will post more about the cook off later.

  2. Very creative and well done. Sadly the cat could probably tie a better bow than me haha

  3. Terry,
You are so creative and talented. You are always turning out something fresh and artsy new. I really like that brown striped paper with the brown bow and ribbon. It gets my vote.
    Love and peace

  5. What are you talking about? They turned out great! I really love the white and yellow daisy looking bows! They certainly spruce up the packages :)

I know all too well about crafting going on the back burner when you don't feel well. I didn't craft anything for 2 years. I guess I am now making up for lost time lol.

Thanks for the shout out :)

  8. I'm terrible at wrapping and making bows. I probably wouldn't be any better at flowers. But these are adorable - love them!

  18. Great idea! I have just recently got into doing crafts and they're so much fun. I have been making tutus for my daughter. Next on the list is learning how to make tulle headbands. :)
