Have you ever heard of Sand Therapy?
I had never heard of it untill I watched The Real Housewives Of Miami. I had to google it to see what it is all about.
It will help cleanse your body of negative energy. The sand allows these energies to flow through them and cleanse our body of them.
I decided to use a large glass bowl as my sandbox. You are suppose to choose figures and objects that mean something to you. I enjoy the beach so I chose some shells that we found the last time we were in Florida.
The wood marker at the bottom center is something my Hubs made me. I really don't have a lot of small things that I want to throw into sand so that is all I put into it.
To do the therapy, you just run your hands through the sand. You can arrange your treasures any way you like them. Just relax and play in the sand
One thing I found, It is VERY relaxing to sit and run my hands through the sand. I am not sure if it has changed my negative energies but I can tell you I feel more relaxed after doing this.
It makes sense - think of how much kids enjoy playing in the sand for hours :-)
ReplyDeleteThey make little tools for an indoor sand box to. I saw some at a shop here in town called New Realities.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I like the idea already. When I watched Pooh Bear over the summer I would sit right in the sand box with him. I would be covered in sand after play. I was thinking about putting a small one on our deck for the winter. I thought Little Bug would enjoy it. Thanks for sharing. Hope you are having a great week.
ReplyDeleteI am so on board with this idea. I love playing in sand.
ReplyDeleteThat explains why they sell those little boxes of sand with tiny rakes!
ReplyDeleteI always do this at the Gulf Coast...no wonder I always feel so relaxed when I'm at the beach. ;) I must have missed that episode of Housewives. But I am going to try that!!
ReplyDeleteI think sand feels so nice to the hands. Especially fine sand like that. The only down fall is that it gets dusty. You can't really clean sand.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of this but it makes sense...relaxing
ReplyDeleteThis may not have the therapeutic effect you are lookiog for but it is certainly a calming thing and like meditation, you can free your mind a little. I might get a bowl and put sand in it, it sounds like a great idea.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this either but sounds fun (and relaxing). I'll definitely have to try it. Thanks. : )
ReplyDeleteI love that idea! I amost bought a zen garden the other day which is quite similar to this. I ended up not purchasing it because I was too worried my two year old and three year old would mess with the sand but I plan on buying one or using your idea to make one when they get a little older.
ReplyDeleteI believe it. And that is exactly why I miss home, where the beach was within easy access.
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of this but I agree it makes sense! Your sand bowl looks so nice.
ReplyDeleteI learned about this when my son (he was 12 then) was seeing a therapist for some anger issues. There was a big sand pit in the therapist's room filled with miniature figures. Now it makes sense!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like such a fun and relaxing therapy. Kids seem to know how to have fun in the sand, so maybe this is a good idea! Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeletewonderful stress relief. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop xo P.S. did you enter my latest giveaway?
ReplyDeleteThat is worth a try- I want all negativity gone from my life! Btw love all the real housewives- so fun to watch
ReplyDeleteMaybe that is why I love the beach so much, so makes sense. I am going to make me one! Just love your blog and love to visit. I do like to watch the housewifes too, Hugs, Lynn
ReplyDeleteI bet that is why kids love to play in the sand soooooooooooo much!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Terry :) I almost like this as much as candles. I am totally missing Real Housewives of Miami. Thanks for letting me know (my head has been in the sand)
ReplyDeleteI really need a sandbox! What a neat idea and I hope it make me relax.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried it but it does look relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy playing with the little sand/rock gardens in gift shops that come with the tiny rakes - you should get a little rake!
ReplyDeleteIt would be like having a beach in a bowl.
