Ouch!! Yellow Jackets Stung Me

NOTE: This blog is for my own healing, if you read and try something I do... you will be trying it at your own risk.  I do some pretty crazy things to heal, some work, some don't.  So please, check with your doctor before you do anything I do.

I was outside mowing around the house with my hand mower when I felt something bite my foot.  Then I felt another bite near the same spot.  By this time, yellow jackets were swarming me.

Sure enough, the first two yellow jackets called their friends for help.  By this time, I had yellow jackets down my shirt, on my arms, in my hair..... all over me.   I went running away from them like a big sissy.   I must of looked a sight because my Hubs shut off the lawn tractor.    Next thing you know he is wacking at his head too.   LOL.... we had to of looked hilarious.

Luckily, I only got stung 10 times and my Hubs 0.    But it HURTS!!

My foot got it the worst.  I think there are 3-4 stings there.

I should of quit mowing but I wanted to finish so thats what I did.   Next I went and got the camera to take pictures.

We killed a lot of the little buggers but there are still lots and lots of them flying around.

Now to How I Treated The Yellow Jacket Stings
.  Got rid of any stingers they left behind
I took two White Willow Bark For Pain And Swelling

. Took a lukewarm bath in epsom salts. Epsom Salts will help take toxins out of the body.

. Put ice on my foot

Open up a probiotic capsule and Make a paste from it

I put the paste on my side

I also put some on my  foot

After I put the probiotic on my side, the burning seemed to go away.  Maybe because the paste was cool feeling.      My foot still burned,  and hurt!!   The swelling did start to go down shortly after, not necessirly from the probiotic.   I think everything I did helped a little.

I can tell you one thing.  Yellow Jackets are the worst.  Their sting hurts for a long time after.  Especially when they get you a lot of times really close together.

Here is a picture of my foot the next day.  Not to bad.

It took about 3 days for the itching to stop completely.

  1. A few years ago I got stung on my ankle and had some bad swelling. I had to skip my run, and one of the guys in my running group was a beekeeper. He told me to buy some camphophenique and keep it on hand to put on stings immediately afterwards. I tried it and it really does work! I know you like the more natural route, but I will say nothing has ever helped my bees stings like the cold sore treatment, lol.

  2. Lisa,
I used to use camphorphenque when I was a kid..... and when I am hurting. I don't care if it is natural or not. Just make it stop!!

  3. Terry, I'mmmmm back. That is another winning post. You are brave and courageous to be filming the bites as you treat them. I bet you were in a lot of pain. The bites really look good the next day. Great job.

  7. Not fun! I've had wasp stings but not yellow jackets. Have a bunch feeding at my hummingbird feeders. They and the hummers are always fighting!

  9. Thanks for dropping by to visit the Bear.
Sorry you had your "misadventure" with the stingers. We had some living under our front porch and in one of our trees. Not a happy situation. Had to "smoke em out." Sadly.

  10. Missing Moments,
Your poor Hummers... I wonder if they ever get stung? Their body is so little that it might kill them.

    Tawna,
I don't know why it gets us and not the guys.. Although my Hubs usually ends up in the ER when he gets stung, so I am happy they didn't get him.

HeY!!! Rob-Bear, Love your site. I had to check you out after seeing what you posted on Manzys site.

  15. Ouchi wouchi! Hubby got stung twice this summer.. once on the face and the other on his upper arm. Our pup got stung once too.. they flew out of those bushes like rockets! Not fun at all!! Hubby's lip was swollen for days.

  16. Ouch! That had to hurt. One bite is bad enough, let alone 10. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Glad you had some great remedies for them though.

I use to put a baking soda wet patch on my stings. It definitely helps.

  18. Becky Jane,
I don't very often get stung and very glad I am not allergic. Now, my Hubs is allergic so happy he didn't get stung.

    Thank you so much Sutupa

Keena, A bee sting is nothing compared to what you are and have been going through. Hope September is a turning point for you.

Snappy Di, Poor Puppy and Hubby.... Bee stings hurt.

Vicki, I was really glad to only have 10 stings. They were all over me.

Miriam, I try to treat myself naturally,.. but if natural doesn't work. I will use what ever does.

  19. OUCH is right! You poor thing - that was not fun I'm sure. Glad you are on the mend. My husband was out mowing our church lawn and stepped on a wasp hive - they did not like THAT very much and showed him how they felt. He had 20 stings on his ankles and legs. So men DO get stung - LOL!

Have a fantastic, sting free, weekend!

I am hijacking your blog... but it is a related topic. I am on my 3rd day of candidia/parasite detox... long story. I came across your blog. I am trying to find out about how crappy one feels during the detox. OMG... I feel like my skin is crawling and my head is going to explode. Is this normal?

  21. Hi Corinna,
LOL..... no don't hijack me. Believe it or not... I really had someone do that.

As for the crappy feeling each person feels different, but it can be brutal.

My sister had the crawling skin almost for a couple of weeks. I had it for a couple of days. I would scratch one place and it would move to another. Almost drives you crazy. You might have parasites in your sinuses. That is why you feel like your head is going to explode.

The crappy feeling will come and go. Usually when I felt really bad, the next day I would see parasites. You might have to look close to see them. Because I was writing a post about them,.... I dug for them and found them. Gross, but it has helped a lot of people understand this crazy thing.

Let me know how things are going. and if you have any more questions.... ask

  22. OUCH!!! I can't imagine being stung that many times!

My son Isaak was stung by a paper wasp in the nose last summer while we were trying to get family photos taken for my parents. This happening to him sort of crashed the picture taking session. :( I felt so bad for him. He was only 2.
