How To Stop A Charley Horse ~ How To Stop A Charlie Horse

I don't know if it Charley or Charlie, but I do know they hurt like heck.   Mine usually happen when I first wake up and stretch in the morning.

This is a picture of my feet in normal position

To stop a Charlie ( Charley ) Horse

To stop a Charley Horse, Point your toes up to the ceiling and try to point them towards your nose.   This will usually stop my charlie horse in it's tracks.

Now that I have stopped my Charley Horse, I need to make sure I don't stretch with my feet pointing down.....  I always try to stretch with my toes pointing up.

Everytime I get a charlie horse, I know it is probably because I am low on potassium, so when I get up, I always take a potassium supplement after a charley horse.

Eating bananas can help also, but if you are on the candida diet, you might not be eating bananas.

Another thing!!  You might want to find out why you are low on potassium.   I am low because of Candida And Parasites.   Both of them suck the vitamins and minerals right out of my system.

  2. Keena,
I don't usually get a lot of charlie horses, however, I have been doing some cleansing and when I do the cleanses, I don't always take my vitamins.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  5. I hate Charlie horses, they always seem to strike in the middle of the night.... but LOL, only when my boys with autism are both asleep and i thought I was finally going to get an uninterrupted 6 hours of sleep! I usually get angry because I want to sleep so I walk/run in place, message them (more like I mash them with my thumbs) and drink couple glasses of water along with a multivitamin.

  6. I had to see this post b/c I get Charlie horses! I have shortened my calves from wearing high heels many years (I'm short) - I've given up the heels but still get these. I'm going to try your hints, and also have more potassium just in case that is adding anything to this.

  9. I get these all of the time and I do the same thing! I notice that if I'm dehydrated they get worse so I make sure to drink lots of water and eat a banana ever other day. Another good source of potassium is Avocados and spinach.
